The NOR'EASTER of November 19th, 2019.
Happy Thanksgiving 2019. (Lots to be Thankful for).
The Creepy Prince Andrew and his Jeffrey Epstein pal.
The Impeachment Woes of The 45th President.

These are the kinds of things that I see when I'm taking photos and video.
I watched this guy run down to the water's edge (without a board) and then do this. I'm not exactly sure what he's doing, but I knew that if you're gonna do something like this, and I have my camera with me? Yeah, I'm taking your photo. Because my friends this is what I do. I'm working here.

And I document what ever I see that I feel is either Blog worthy, of just plain beautiful. This sequence is just silly Blog filler. I called it a "head dip" because of the surf term that is used when some one is riding a small wave and they stick their head under the lip. Not really getting tubed but more like getting a mini rinse under the shower-head. But this? I don't know.

And on Thursday the sun came out, and the air temps soared up to 48 degrees. So why not get on your short sleeve tee shirts and shorts, and get the old unicycle out? Hell it's basically circus weather. I was standing at the entrance of 10th street talking with a friend as I was shooting the surf when this guy rolled by me. Again, if you're gonna ride a unicycle on the beach in front of me? I'm taking your picture. Not even gonna second guess it. I'm pointing my camera at you and snapping away. The only thing that would have made this a better shot is if he had fallen into the wet sand.

Now is that so wrong? I'm just doing my job here people.

This is Tyler Moore giving anyone within his sight the "Double Bird". Yup, he's flipping off anyone and everyone who happens to see him surfing. There's not a single surfer I know that isn't a character of sorts. Everyone has their own surf style, and some of the more notable characters are so unique that they stand out from the crowd. Tyler Moore is one of them.

I have seen Tyler take on some of the biggest surf we get around these parts and it's usually when he is alone. He will think nothing of paddling a few miles out from the coast to surf some remote offshore ledg,e and get his ass kicked and have that be one of the best times of his life.

Crazy you're thinking? Probably. I mean we're all crazy for doing what we do. But Tyler? I can't help but crack up when I see him take off on a bomb and start yelling and then give the double F*** You to anyone who happens to be paddling by. I remember the first time he flipped me off. I was shooting him as he got closer he started to give me both fingers. At first I thought "Is he upset with me?" And then I realized that this is what he does on most of his waves. He flips you off. Ha ha. Like I said, Tyler cracks me up.

If you all recall the Blog I posted about head injuries a few weeks ago, you will remember that one of them (Markey J) was the nastiest of the bunch. He had a gash in his head that basically had his brain looking back at us winking. Yeah it was graphic. And honestly when I saw it, I thought the worse. There's no way he's gonna come back as quick as he did. But then again, Markey is another character that is in that " Unique" column.

There's nobody like Tyler and there's nobody like Markey J. I mean he was back out there in 10 days. Ten days after having his brain exposed. 10 days after making people faint and or vomit from looking at that gash in his head. But he just laughs it off.

As you can see, he's taking off on a bomb here. Grabbing a rail and just charging into the mayhem. Dammed if he does and dammed if he doesnt. There's a sequence in the gallery that shows the following three shots after this one. Suffice it to say he had people scrambling to get the hell out of his way. That's a big wave and a big board and he's not slowing down for anyone.

He looks like a demented Sam Elliott at the Battle of Gettysburg.

Anyway, as you can see he made the wave and nobody got hurt. Well, maybe a few feelings were hurt out there, but nobody broke any bones, or lost any blood. He's waving me off to acknowledge my presence. There are a few people in my life, that I know I could count on, if things ever got heated, and I needed some physical back up. Markey J has always had my back. And that's a good feeling to have in this crazy ass world we all live in.

Here he is showing the scar-less head section where just a few short weeks ago he was showing us all the inside of his cranium. He had the "inverted V" scar for a few weeks but that has all but faded. I jokingly called him "Markey V" the other day. He's obviously got a head of steel. I love that guy.

I'm thankful for the little things too. Like heat and air conditioning.
I'm thankful for my clients (Adlantic) and sponsors of this Blog.
I'm thankful for friends who tip me off to let me know there's snots in my nose when I'm shooting the surf in the cold weather.
I'm thankful for the music and comedy that fill our hearts with joy and laughter.
I'm thankful for my Jeep RUBICON.
I'm thankful that I am still able to play my guitar, paint waves, write every week, take photos, and make videos.
I'm thankful that I can still make people smile and laugh.
I'm thankful for those who can still make me smile and laugh.
I'm thankful for being able to see and smell both the ocean and the mountains up north.
I'm thankful for the abundance of wildlife that swim in the seas, run and fly in the woods.
I'm thankful that I am still able to remember all of the good times I've had in my life as well as the sad times.
And finally, I'm thankful for God. Who made me, and everyone and everything else in this great world. For that, I am forever Grateful.

Was there a Quid Pro Quo? According to this man, the answer is YES. Ambassador Sondland. He said it under oath.

Here's the list of who's who House Impeachment witnesses.

The testimony of Fiona Hill was pretty impressive.

She is just one more nail in the coffin of this impeachment.

Meanwhile across the pond...Prince Andrew opens mouth and inserts foot. Really Prince? WTF???

I guess he's stepping down from the Royal Family Business.

ESM (Eastern Surf Magazine) using a READY MAG format did the Best of Ralph's Pic. KSM Photoshop of the Week
This week's news about Prince Andrew reminded me of this pic
I had hidden away in the vault. I was waiting for that rainy day before I posted it. The day that the Prince, The Sheik, and
Jeffrey Epstein got together for some underage shenanigans.

And so my friends, please take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed).

I kept a daily BLOG when I surfed everyday during my
CATCH A WAVE FOR MOLLY. (Click On the Banner below)
Started on July 26, 2010 ENDED July 26, 2011.
A Wave a day for 365 consecutive days.

Yesterday- THANKSGIVING MORNING 1986.
The Wall in Hampton, NH

(Below) I remember this morning like it was yesterday. I had borrowed my late friend Kurt Cochran's old NIKON water camera. There were only a handful of surfers out that day, but that was of no concern to me, I was looking to just shoot empty waves. And the pics I shot that morning I still have. Some of
them are hanging in my home. This was 33 years ago on Thanksgiving.

HALLOWEEN SWELL 2019 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

I was trying to compare the HALLOWEEN SWELL of 1991 with this one the HALLOWEEN SWELL of 2019. But truth be told, there's no real comparison, other than they both fell on or around Halloween. Both days were windy. And both days had overhead surf. But the waves were bigger in '91 than '19. And the surf lasted an entire week in 1991 and only the one day in 2019. Still, it was a neat concept, the two Halloween storms. I will say that the thing that really got me was, there was only ONE PERSON out at 8:00 AM! ONE PERSON! Are you kidding me? It was weird seeing NO VEHICLES parked along the wall that morning. More people eventually went out, but for a while there, it looked like a Ghost Town. Any way, there's some cool looking waves here. Enjoy my 270th Video! *Watch in 1080

NESTOR 10-17-19 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

So I missed the Big day (10-16-19). But, I caught the "Golden" tail end of NESTOR the very next morning October 17th, 2019. And it was truly a Golden Session. The surfers that I rememberer: Kody Grondin, Lars Hamilton, Kainalu Nichols, Max Fatello, Crowley Gentile, Kevin Grondin, and a handful of others. The music is the cool mix tape of JH by Beautiful People. I love that CD. I also did something I rarely do and that is, I used a bunch of stills to create a sequence. I've done it before in the past and it seems to work well with this edit.

This October and really since September has been amazing. I've almost lost count of how many Tropical Storms, Hurricanes, and Nor'easters we've had. Suffice it to say, it's been significant.
Let's hope November is much like it's little brother October.
Hope you like this edit.

BOMBOGENESIS from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

On October 17th, 2019 the surfers from the Northeast experienced a rare and powerful BOMB-O-GENESIS (Google it). Wild, windy, cold, and dark. The surf was real though. Check it out. Watch in 1080. The music is by local Maine Surfer, Bill Pierce. Check out his music on billpierce.bandcamp.com

MELISSA from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

What happens when a Tropical storm mates with a Nor'easter? Well, five days of waves is one thing. I shot on Day one and again on Day four. Yeah, I missed the big days. But I got the cleanest of the five. On Saturday October 12th, 2019 a good friend Markey J took off on a Bomb and got clobbered by his own board. The pics are at the end of this edit. But be forewarned, they are graphic. I posted the pics because I think it's important to remember to protect your head when you lose it out there. Too many head injuries the last 10 years or so. This one was one of the worse.
Another inch or two to the left and we would be planning a paddle for Markey. Stay frosty out there.
If anyone knows who the long haired Goofy foot from NY or NJ is please let him know.
Music is by AB.

MIXTAPE from Brayden Rudert on Vimeo.

Little LORENZO and his Ladder from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

On October 1st, 2019 I did something that I've never done before. I carried a 10' step ladder out onto the slippery rocks and kelp to shoot the waves from Hurricane Lorenzo. The waves were just OK. They never really materialized the way they were predicting. But, the ladder? It was a major breakthrough as far as surf photography goes. Yeah it was awkward to carry, especially seeing how I had a back pack with two of my cameras. I took a lot of grief over this. Mostly from my family. They all thought I'd fall and break my neck.

I told them "They laughed at the Wright Brothers..." Ha ha.

Any way, my dear friend John Carden provided the cool soundtrack. I was looking for some Italian opera when out of the blue he sent me this track. It's pretty cool. *There was one negative aspect to this edit though. Some old guy on a Boogie Board was hassling everyone out there. He kept getting in the way and was just being a jerk. He caused one of the riders to lose a fin. And it was the only dark spot of what should have been a fun session. Oh well. Hope you enjoy Lorenzo.

HUMBERTO from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

Tropical Storm Humberto produced two days of overhead surf to Northern New England. Friday September 20th, and Saturday September 21st, 2019.
I shot from the land and in the water. There are too many surfers to name. However, the music is by The CARS, VINNY, and MIGUEL TITO RODRIGEUZ. I dedicated to the edit to the late Ric Ocasek.
May He Rest In Peace.

DORIAN from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

On September 7th and 8th, 2019 Hurricane DORIAN came whipping up the Eastern Seaboard after virtually wiping out the Bahamas. The death and destruction was immense. But...there's that silver lining that comes with all storms of that magnitude, and that is Perfect Surf. From Florida, Carolinas, Jersey, Rhode Island, and up to the Northeast, DORIAN provided the surfers with their first taste of the Hurricane season. This footage was shot in Northern New England on the 7th and the 8th of September. While it never really got BIG, it did have it's moments. I think I captured a few in this edit. Now I know it's long compared to the 60 second Insta edits you youngsters seem to like, but I don't care. I make surf movies, not surf commercials. This is a first as far as soundtracks go as well. I used a song from each of my three bands. The NOR'EASTERS, SEMPER FI, and The VINNY BAND. It's a first. I closed the edit with a song called HURRICANE by my favorite band, King's X. There's too many surfers to name. There's a good chance you are in this if you were out when I was standing on the beach shooting on Saturday or out in the water on Sunday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ryan Jackson! And Happy Birthday today September 14th, 2019 to Max Fatello. I love you Mackey!
